Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday season! We were quite busy over the holidays. In addition to all of the usual busyness (shopping, wrapping, baking--I love baking cookies!), my mom and I decided to plan a bridal shower for my sister, held a couple of days after Christmas! I pretty much hit the ground running after American Thanksgiving! All of this necessitated my taking a break from blogging.

But we're back now and hoping to begin our usual weekly cooking again!
This meal, Chicken curry, we actually made before all of the holiday busyness hit. To be honest, I really can't remember how any of it went down, so instead of too much detail, it's just going to be a few pictures and the video!
I think this was the point when the kids had abandoned ship and I was cooking alone again!

Also just before the holiday crazy time, Chickie got the urge to bake a cake. I came downstairs one morning around 7 to find her with a chocolate cookbook out, all ready to go. Unfortunately we were out of sugar and I also wasn't quite prepared for that much mess that early in the morning. She was less than pleased that she couldn't bake a cake right then and there! However, after some UN level diplomacy and negotiations, I reasoned her into postponing this baking bonanza until the following morning, giving me a chance to mentally accept the idea and also get sugar. So at 7 the next morning she was baking a cake! We frosted it after school and enjoyed it after dinner. She did it almost entirely on her own. I helped with frosting it and she decorated it with a candy cane to reign in the Christmas season!
